How it began.

House Church was started a few years ago by two families. As neighbors, they began meeting and studying the Bible together. This passion to be together in community and to escape from the traditions of religion led to House Church.

At House Church, we do not preach a sermon or give a message each week. Rather, we gather together to eat meals, pray, sing, and study the Bible. Because church happens when we are together.

“Your mind was made to know and love God.”

— John Piper.

Think through everything you know about the church.

What is your view?

Is your view and understanding of church based on traditions? Is church simply going to mass once a week and listening to someone talk? Have you ever thought that perhaps church is meant to be more than this? Truth is, if you were to read and study the Bible and then use that knowledge to build a church, it wouldn’t look like the church you know today.

What is church?

At House Church, our definition of church comes from the Greek word Εκκλησία (ekklesia), which simply means “people gathered together.” With this definition we understand that church is not a location, a building, or an organization, but rather, it is a community of Christians. From the Bible, we learn that all the Christians in a particular city, whether they assembled together in one place or in several different places to worship God, were an Εκκλησία.

We, the body of Christ, are the church, and we gather together to worship God and to know Him better.

“House Church is for anyone wanting to escape from the traditions of religion to know God better.”

Religion vs. Relationship

House Church is not a big fan of religion. We believe that what religion says and what the Bible teaches are very different.

Often times, religion is based on manmade rules, regulations, and traditions which are followed so that God’s love and favor might be earned.

However, this is not what the Bible teaches, and the problem is that most people have never read the Bible for themselves, so they do not know what it says.

Ready for something different?

Our desire at House Church is to help people break away from the traditions of religion so that they can enter into a meaningful and lasting relationship with God, the God of the Bible.

This God is very different from how many people believe Him to be.

In Jesus, we see that God is loving, caring, and compassionate.
